A fisherman paddling via Veeranpuzha bay that is the northern elongation of Vembanad Lake. The port of Kochi exists at this lake's outlet to the Arabian Sea. A lot of fishermen like this man find their living risking their lives fishing in this deep seaward lake, which is also the shipping channel of Kochi port. When you travel by boat between the main land Ernakulum and the surrounding islands, you will be able to witness a large number of these people in small canoes made out of wooden planks that can hardly carry two persons, fishing in this lake particularly at the harbor mouth with Fort cochin and Fort Vypin on either side. Bottom picture shows top angle discernment of several such wooden canoes moored ashore.
