Kochi’s coast line stretches about 45 kilometers from Chellanam in the south bordering Alappuzha district to Munambam in the North bordering Thrissur district. In this stretch lies many popular beaches like Cherai, Fort Kochi, Kuzhupilly along with not so popular beaches like Valappu, Elamkunnapuzha Blue Waves Beach, Njarakkal Beach, Puthenthodu and Munambam beach. Puthuvype beach is omitted from the list because entry to this beach for tourists is closed due to security reasons as this beach lies close to the LNG terminal.

Not so popular beaches like Valappu, Elamkunnapuzha Blue Waves Beach, Puthenthodu and the Kuzhupilly Beach are the most beautiful and clean beaches around Kochi. Puthenthodu and Cherai are best for bathing in sea with the latter having full time service of vigilant lifeguards.
