Review of Elysium Gardens Hill Resorts, Munnar
Our review of Elysium Gardens Hill Resorts, Munnar: This place is decent enough. But do not go by the photos of the hotel seen in internet. In reality, the place looked very old and dingy. In one of the rooms that we booked; it was noticed that there were stains on the bed sheet. We also did not get sound sleep because there were noises in the attic above our floor that kept us awake throughout the night.
The beauty of Mattupetty and Kundala, Munnar
Mattupetty Dam is one of the must visit place at Munnar, Kerala. Besides
the green rolling grassy hills, the attractions here include a dam,
lake and a dairy farm of international standards. Travelling about 7 km
from Mattupetty is Kundala, another beautiful picnic spot where large
green tea plantations and a dam with a scenic reservoir await
travellers. If you are lucky, you could have the sight of elephant herds
strolling on the grassy hills of Mattupetty.
Eravikulam National Park, Rajmalai, Munnar
Eravikulam is the home to Nilgiri Thar, an endangered mountain goat. From the parking area, there are mini buses operated by Kerala forest department which will take you up the hill to the entrance of the park. From there you can trek up spotting the Nilgiri Tahr (not guaranteed always). From here, you also get a breath-taking view of Anamudi, South India's largest peak and the valley below. The park is usually closed from January to March as it is the breeding season for Nilgiri Thar. Park entrance fee is ₹ 200 per head for Indian Nationals.

Our Munnar Trip
We had an overnight stay in Munnar sometime back. The weather was pleasant and rejuvenating. However, the place has lost its old glory and grandeur after the corona crisis. Most of the hotels and restaurants have shut down. Also the few ones that are still open are charging higher rates inspite of providing below average services and hygiene conditions.
