Total distance is about
350 kilometers. If you are travelling to Nilambur during day time and on working days, the traffic is a bit heavy and time consuming. Kochi to Nilambur is 198 kilometers. we took less than four hours to cover this distance as we started from Kochi at around 4 in the morning. Nilambur is just 26 kilometers away from Kerala Tamil Nadu border.

Only good hotel on the highway in Nilambur is Hotel Tamarind run by KTDC. The restaurant here serve good breakfast and lunch. We visited Adyanpara Waterfalls, Conolly Plot Teak Plantation, and Teak Museum etc. while on our stopover at Nilambur.

Nilambur – Mysore Route (Distance 155 kilometers): Nilambur - Vazhikkadavu check post-Gudalur-Mudumalai-Bandipur-Gundlupet-Mysore. Keep in mind that, there is a travel restriction at Bandipur during 6 pm and 6 am. The road through the tiger reserve is closed to vehicular traffic during night time. So plan your trip accordingly. You can also go to Ooty by taking a right deviation from Gudalur.

For visiting Ooty on your return leg from Mysore, take left deviation from Masinagudi.

Road condition in Kerala up to Vazhikkadavu is o.k., the roads in T.N and rest of Karnataka are excellent with good surfacing especially in Mudumalai , Bandipur wildlife

sanctuaries.On our journey through this sanctuaries, we were able to see wild animals at close proximity including elephants, Gray languars, peacocks, sambar deer, lot of Chital spotted deer's. What we missed was the Gaur.
