Platform supply vessel "Hellespont Dawn" built by Cochin Shipyard - July 2009
"Hellespont Dawn" constructed by Cochin Shipyard is the second platform
supply vessel delivered to NFC Offshore, Norway on April 8 2009 with the
previous one being delivered on March 30. In the featured picture, the
vessel is on its way for a trial run into the Arabian Sea. These platform supply ships are of the standard UT 755 LN design for the offshore implementation. The ship is intended for fulfilling the definite requirement of transporting the deck cargo, liquid cargo, cement and offloading to rigs and production platforms. Cochin Shipyard, Kerala is presently building 16 identical ships of this type for several foreign clients. Moreover, the shipyard is also constructing an aircraft carrier for the Indian Navy.

Chimmini Wildlife Sanctuary, Thrissur - Feb 2009
Stock pictures of Chimmini Wildlife Sanctuary. This sanctuary was founded in 1984 and situated about 87 kilometers northeast of Kochi city and 37 kilometers southeast of Trichur town in Kerala. You can reach Chimmony by taking a deviation from Amballoor junction on the NH 47 National highway, which is 25 kilometers away. An artificial lake has been formed by the construction of a dam across the Chimmony River. This lake has an area of 10 sq.kms and a depth of 20 mts. The lake encircled by Ghat Mountains, which accommodates the Chimmini Wildlife Sanctuary, is a breathtaking spectacle.

Nelliampathy Mountain cliff, Kerala - Jan 2009
Different views from Nelliyampathy mountain cliff. We can see the landscapes beneath spreading throughout the Nenmara village, Palghat from top of the cliff. The forest surrounding this cliff accommodate a variety of wild animals like bonnet monkeys, langurs , elephants etc. The fresh dung and the crushed tree trunks after eating the barks on the walkway along the ridge are evidences of wild elephant's presence in this forest belt (see photo NLPY_071 below) bordering on the tea plantations.

Bonnet Macaques of Nelliampathi mountains in Kerala - Jan 2009
These Bonnet monkeys seen in the hills of Nelliyampathy are very friendly to humans and often found taking food from tourists visiting this mountain cliff. One can also see the Gray langurs ( Hanuman Langurs ) on tree tops from a distance and not on the rocks or the grassy plains as they are not friendly like the Bonnet macaques.

Boating at Idukki Dam Reservoir, Kerala - Jan - 2009
Stock photos of boating at Idukki dam reservoir which is a rare opportunity to tourists only on festive holidays of Onam and Christmas. This boating is conducted by the Hydel Tourism wing of the Kerala state electricity Board.
